About

The Hawaii Wood Guild is a volunteer driven, organization for woodworkers and wood enthusiasts on the Island of Hawaii. Our mission is to promote awareness and appreciation for Hawaii’s talented woodworkers and the trees and woods they use to create with. Our livelihood relies on our forests and it is our goal to bring awareness to good forest stewardship through our alliance with the Hawaii Forest Industry Association.

Our Annual Exhibition is the premiere event for fine woodworking on Hawaii Island. The best works by the most talented woodworkers are displayed for a month at our juried and judged exhibit at Isaacs Art Center in Waimea, and all the entries available for purchase. Each year we award 1st Place and Honorable Mentions in Joinery, Sculpture, Woodturning, and Open categories, along with Best of Show and the Artists’ Choice Awards. Our visitors are also asked to vote for their favorite and we award the Peoples’ Choice Award at the opening reception on the following year.

Membership meetings are held at various woodworkers studios a few times a year to encourage professional development among our members. Sharing tips and techniques always leads to inspiration.

We have several levels of membership:
